Happy New Year! I can’t believe it’s already 2021. I know it’s easy to look at the year we just had and to feel stagnant, sad, and uncomfortable but I am trying my best to look forward to this fresh start with positivity. I’m making this year one for growth, both professionally and personally, and for doing what I love. I want to see my family more (they’re in Colorado, I’m in Nebraska), travel to new cities when it’s safe, and surround myself with like-minded people. I can definitely say that I am looking forward to what’s to come this year!
Since starting my blog in October, I have been feeling ✨ extra ✨ creative and finally feel like I have found my passion for writing again. Woohoo! One of my many ideas for this page this year is to start a new ‘series’ called Trending where I break down trends, how to style them, and where to buy them. I hope you enjoy this as much as I enjoyed putting it together!
Chunky Boots

There are so many amazing chunky boots on the market right now. From hiking boots to combat boots and booties, you really can’t go wrong. One of my favorite gifts from Christmas this year was a pair of taupe-y hiking boots, I have worn them SO many times already!

The Shacket

A whaaat? It’s a jacket/ shirt hybrid and it is THE BEST. It’s warm enough to take the place of a jacket on cooler days but light and trendy enough to wear as a shirt. I recently purchased an oatmeal-colored shacket and it goes with everything.

Gold Hoops

Talk about a statement piece. Gold hoops can top off any look for a sophisticated and ultra trendy vibe. Fun fact: I don’t have my ears pierced but if I did… I would be sporting gold hoops any chance I’d get.

Layered Necklaces

Whether you’re a silver or a gold gal, layering your necklaces will give your outfit an extra sparkle. A dainty chain paired with two longer pieces elongates your neck and adds a “put together” feeling to any outfit.

Mom Jeans

This trend took me a while to get behind. I have been a high-waisted skinny jean girl for many, many years but I recently picked up a pair of mom jeans from an H&M clearance rack and have officially been converted. They are a must have for this year.

New Balances

I know what you’re thinking… “what?”. I feel like there was a moment where Nike ruled the sneaker world and then Adidas came storming in with dope styles (NMDs!!!) but now, New Balance is headed for the lead. Just look at the color palettes! So good, so fresh, and so great for an athleisure outfit.

Teddy Coats

This isn’t a new trend by any means and it’s not going anywhere anytime soon. The great thing about teddy coats is that you can buy them super cheap and still benefit from the insane warmth and coziness.

Square Toe Heels

I die, I die. I know these aren’t your conventional, everyday heel but they can really turn heads and turn your look from 0-100. Designers are getting so creative with the style and new designs are popping up everywhere. Give them a try on your next night out!
