I am interior design obsessed. As I’m getting older, I’m discovering my true style more and I feel like I have finally figured it out! It has taken me many years, many apartment leases, and many dollars spent to get there but hey; life is all about the journey, right?!
So, what is my style? I call it ‘classic modern, rustic’ or ‘Restoration Hardware meets cozy traditional’. Looking back on my many previous spaces, it’s quite the come-up in comparison to what I’m living in now! My very first apartment was just a jumble of my mom’s hand me downs which included a huge sun-washed medallion rug, a lot of rust-colored pieces, and scrolly metal. My next place was an eclectic mix of that and a lot of shiny gold tabletop decor, weird but it somehow worked. Next, my house! I rented a cute newly renovated house in my hometown and decided to go in full farmhouse mode. I’m not putting that lightly either. I had buffalo check pillows, a faux cowhide rug, murals of bulls, and a giant ‘farmhouse’ sign right as you walked in. As you can probably gather, my style has changed as many times as I have moved.
From my previous home design posts, modern farmhouse kitchens & contemporary entryways, it’s easy to see that I enjoy a twist on things. I appreciate classic touches mixed in with modern luxury. Pampas grass is absolutely gorgeous in a tall, skinny vase. I have a few bunches around my house and they are incredible. You can truly style your pampas grass so many ways depending on your choice of vase. Pro tip: spray with hairspray to prevent shedding 🙂
